Lebanon’s military court on Friday (September 28th) referred a suspect accused of involvement in the 2013 bombing of the Iranian embassy in Beirut to the Judicial Council, Lebanese media reported.
The accused, Bahaeddine Mahmoud Hujeir, also has been accused of plotting the assassination of Lebanese politicians and businessmen.
Hujeir was arrested last week in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh.
He has ties to Abdullah Azzam Brigades and to the two suicide bombers who carried out the embassy bombing, and recently pledged allegiance to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), according to various media reports.
In November 2013, at least 23 people were killed and more than 145 were wounded in twin blasts near the Iranian Embassy in Beirut's southern suburbs.
