Jordan's King Abdullah on Wednesday (February 8th) met with families of soldiers and members of security agencies fallen in the war against terrorist groups, the Jordan Times reported.
During the meeting at al-Husseiniya Palace, the king voiced his pride in the sacrifices of those who died in the line of duty to protect Jordan and its security and stability, a Royal Court statement said.
Abdullah said the terrorist acts that targeted the kingdom and its people have united Jordanians and made them stronger and more persistent to face terrorist groups and anyone who thinks of tampering with the country's safety and stability.
During the meeting, also attended by families of civilians who died in terrorist incidents, he hailed the security agencies for their alertness and efforts to protect the kingdom and its people.
Last month, Abdullah directed Joint Chiefs-of-Staff chairman Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat to establish a fund to support the families of security personnel who died in the line of duty.
Five million Jordanian dinars ($7 million) from the Royal Court budget will be donated to finance the fund, which is designed to enhance the current support provided to those families.
