Jordan’s King Abdullah will open the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa on Saturday (April 6th) with a keynote speech, Jordanian media reported.
More than 1,000 decision makers from government, business and civil society organisations will convene at the Dead Sea, including leaders from the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states, the Levant and North Africa.
Joining them will be key international stakeholders from the US, Europe and East Africa.
The two-day meeting will be the forum’s 10th meeting in Jordan and 17th in the region, and will focus on building new platforms of co-operation.
Participants are slated to discuss shaping a new economic and social model for the region, environmental stewardship, finding common ground and the 4th Industrial Revolution in the Arab world.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s President Suma Chakrabarti will co-chair the meeting.
Meeting participants include UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon Ghassan Hasbani and Bahrain Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, among many others.
