Jordan's State Security Court on Wednesday (April 19th) held a public hearing to look into the case of the first female suspected of supporting the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) via Facebook, the Jordan Times reported.
The General Intelligence Department arrested the suspect in February, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the hearing, the court listened to the testimony of a witness, who is a security agent, before adjourning the session to listen to the testimonies of the other witnesses.
According to the charge list, the suspect promoted ISIL through publishing photos, videos and news of the group on her Facebook page, which she created in 2016.
The suspect has pleaded not-guilty to the charge of promoting ISIL's ideology.
Earlier this year, the State Security Court started issuing prison sentences of up to 10 years for those found guilty of supporting or promoting the ideologies of ISIL and al-Nusra Front (ANF), raising the sentence for this crime from the previous five-year maximum.
