Jordan's State Security Court on Monday (October 17th) concluded hearing defence witness testimonies in the trial of 21 defendants charged with carrying out "terrorist acts", the Jordanian news agency Petra reported.
The 21 "Irbid terror cell" members were arrested in March during an operation against the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in the northern city.
At the time, Jordan announced it had foiled an ISIL plot to carry out attacks on "civilian and military sites" in the kingdom.
Seven ISIL fighters were killed and around 20 were arrested in the operation.
At the end of Monday's session, the court adjourned the session until next week to hear from other witnesses.
In previous sessions, the court has heard testimonies of 16 witnesses, accused of committing terrorist acts that caused the death of an individual, using weapons in terrorist acts, manufacturing explosives to commit terrorist acts and the possession of weapons and ammunition to commit terrorist acts.
Other charges include planning to carry out terrorist acts and promoting the ideologies of terror groups.
