In a statement released on social media on Thursday, the group claimed that it had planted two explosive devices in the provincial capital of al-Arish, killing Col. Yasser al-Hadidi and injuring three policemen.
In a separate incident on Thursday, two police officers were killed and four were wounded after an IED exploded near a security convoy in al-Arish.
