A 22-year-old police conscript was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the North Sinai provincial capital of al-Arish on Friday (August 19th) and five other Egyptian policemen were injured, Egypt's Ahram Online reported.
The device exploded in the western part of the city.
In a separate incident early Thursday, two conscripts from the Egyptian armed forces were killed by snipers while on duty at a checkpoint near al-Arish.
Funerals for the victims of the Thursday attack were set for Friday in their home province of Beni Suef in Upper Egypt.
Security forces have been the frequent target of deadly attacks by extremist groups in Sinai, and "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) affiliate Wilayat Sinai in particular.
