Lebanon army nabs senior militant in Arsal ambush

Lebanon's army on Tuesday (October 18th) arrested a senior official of Fatah al-Sham Front (FSF), formerly known as al-Nusra Front (ANF), in an ambush in the border town of Arsal, Lebanese media reported.

The man, named Adnan Mohammed Slaibi, has been transferred to a military post for questioning.

On Monday, the army bombed militant posts in the outskirts of the border towns of Arsal, Ras Baalbek and al-Qaa, inflicting heavy casualties on the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the National News Agency reported.

The army fired heavy artillery and rockets at militant posts in the outskirts of al-Qaa and Ras Baalbek after detecting suspicious movements, the agency said.

Fighters from ISIL and FSF are entrenched in areas along the border with Syria and the army regularly shells their posts.
