Lebanon army targets ISIL, al-Nusra Front near Arsal

Lebanese army intelligence agents have arrested a Syrian man in the northeastern border town of Arsal on charges of belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Lebanese media reported Sunday (July 17th).

Army troops meanwhile fired heavy artillery and rockets at suspicious movements of al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front in Wadi al-Kheil and Khirbet Younin in Arsal's outskirts.

Several militants were wounded as a number of their vehicles and heavy-caliber machine guns were destroyed, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.

The army has been bombarding extremist groups in the outskirts of Arsal and the nearby towns of al-Qaa and Ras Baalbek for several days now.
