Jordan’s King Abdullah on Thursday (July 25th) met with newly appointed chairman of the joint chiefs of staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), the Jordan Times reported.
Abdullah discussed operational, training and logistic issues concerning the armed forces and affirmed his pride and confidence in JAF personnel and leaders, a Royal Court statement said.
Huneiti was on Wednesday appointed chairman of the joint chiefs of staff by royal decree, while another referred his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat to retirement.
In a Wednesday letter to Huneiti, the king stressed the need to fully support the JAF to ensure the army remains a shining example of discipline, dedication, efficiency and professionalism, directing him to develop, restructure and build the capacities of the armed forces.
Huneiti responded in a Thursday letter, expressing pride and gratitude for being tasked with this responsibility and saying the JAF will remain committed to safeguarding the homeland and defending the nation’s causes, as well as national and Arab security.
