Jordan’s King Abdullah on Sunday (October 28th) commended the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) for their efforts in dealing with the Dead Sea accident, the Jordan Times reported.
Flash floods last Thursday led to 21 fatalities and dozens of injuries, mostly among schoolchildren from an Amman-based private school.
Around 2,000 army, security and civil defence personnel took part in the rescue operations.
During a visit to the JAF's General Command, the king voiced his pride in the security agencies for their preparedness under all circumstances.
Abdullah was received by Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the two discussed the JAF’s operations and exercises, as well as logistical matters, according to a Royal Court statement.
The king also expressed his pride in the JAF’s efforts in defending Jordan and maintaining its security and stability, voicing his confidence in the "advanced level" reached by the JAF.
