Egypt's Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki on Tuesday (September 4th) inspected security units at the Armed Forces Operations Centre in North Sinai, Egypt’s Ahram Online reported.
Egyptian forces are taking part in the ongoing Operation Sinai 2018, which began in February, to oust extremists from the peninsula.
Zaki was given a detailed presentation by the commanders of the 2nd and 3rd field armies on the size and composition of forces participating in the operation and measures taken to combat terrorist activity.
The commanders also discussed security plans in central and north Sinai, the plans and implementation of different phases of the operation, and the process to complete the destruction of the resources and grassroots of terrorism.
The commanders and Zaki also discussed with the police the control of security within cities and residential communities in North Sinai, including the procedures of control of and re-combing of roads, mountainous areas, lanes and valleys.
Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Mohamed Farid was among the attendees.
