Egypt army kills 3 extremists in Sinai

Egyptian forces killed three extremists and arrested 59 suspects in north and central Sinai as part of Operation Sinai 2018, Egypt's Ahram Online reported Tuesday (July 3rd).

The armed forces launched Operation Sinai 2018 in February to target terror groups in north and central Sinai, parts of the Nile Delta and the Western Desert.

Egypt's air force destroyed five vehicles and an administrative supply depot belonging to extremist elements, the Egyptian army said in a statement.

The operations also resulted in the destruction of 12 vehicles used by extremists in attacking security posts, it said.

A fuel depot and a workshop used to armour vehicles were destroyed during combing and raid missions.

The operations also destroyed 285 hideouts and a storage depot in central and north Sinai, where munitions, TNT, wireless communication devices and books that promote extremist ideology were found.

Army engineers discovered and detonated 10 IEDs which were planted to target troops in operation zones, the statement said.
