Houthis come under attack from former allies

Troops loyal to former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh on Thursday (April 19th) launched an attack backed by Arab coalition forces against their former allies, the Iran-backed Houthis (Ansarallah), AFP reported.

Military sources said the attack was launched under the command of Tareq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, a nephew of the late president, in the area between the port city of al-Mokha and Taez province.

There were casualties on both sides, according to medical sources, but no figures were available.

Saleh's forces split with the Houthis shortly before December 4th, when he was killed by the militia.
