Egypt's interior ministry said police on Sunday (March 25th) killed six alleged militants suspected of involvement in a failed assassination attempt against a security chief, AFP reported.
Alexandria security chief Gen. Mostafa el-Nemr survived a car bombing targeting his convoy on Saturday. Two policemen were killed and five were injured.
Police tracked down the cell belonging to the Hasm movement in Beheira province, killing six in an exchange of fire, the ministry said in a statement.
The Jordanian government on Sunday condemned the attack, the Jordanian news agency, Petra reported.
Government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani stressed the kingdom’s support for Egypt and its efforts to eliminate terrorists and consolidate security.
