Jordan’s King Abdullah on Tuesday (March 20th) participated in a session on regional security in The Hague, the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.
Also attending the session was King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Dutch officials and representatives of non-governmental organisations concerned with combating extremism and terrorism.
Abdullah stressed that co-operation and co-ordination between countries is the only way to win the war against terror groups, noting that the world faces a common threat.
He stressed the need for a holistic approach to the war on terror, covering military, security and intellectual aspects.
As part of its counter-terrorism efforts, he said, Jordan launched the Aqaba meetings with the participation of regional and international partners, including the Netherlands, to co-ordinate and intensify efforts in this regard.
The Jordanian monarch also warned of Islamophobia and the potential risks arising from isolating Muslim societies in the West, which can leave them vulnerable to exploitation.
Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok commended Jordan's efforts to bring about security and stability, expressing his country's appreciation for Abdullah’s efforts to deliver the true image of Islam.
Following the session, the two monarchs oversaw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Jordan and the Netherlands on security co-operation.
