Egypt's National Elections Authority (NEA) on Friday (February 23rd) approved President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Ghad party head Moussa Mostafa Moussa as the final candidates in the upcoming presidential elections, set for late March, Egypt’s Ahram Online reported.
The NEA also has approved the electoral symbols requested by the candidates; a star for al-Sisi, and an airplane for Moussa.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) on Thursday announced that 680 foreign journalists have been approved to cover the upcoming presidential elections.
The SIS said that 540 resident correspondents and 140 visiting correspondents from the US, EU, the Middle East and Africa have received permits to cover the elections.
Earlier this month, the NEA approved 1,558 Egyptian journalists from print, broadcast and television news outlets to cover the elections, which are set to take place March 25th and 26th.
