Jordanian Minister of State for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh on Wednesday (September 27th) opened the 2nd Gulf-Jordanian Economic Forum in Amman, the Jordan Times reported Thursday.
The event is organised by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), in co-operation with the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Co-operation Council.
The meeting seeks to boost trade, economic and investment ties, as well as forge new partnerships between Jordan and the Gulf states.
Shehadeh noted King Abdullah’s efforts to attract investment, saying political security and stability has enabled Jordan to be a centre for international investments, a regional hub for multinational companies and a gateway for reconstruction projects in Iraq and Syria.
JCC chairman Nael Kabariti said he hoped the forum would come up with a new vision on the future of Arab economic relations to serve as a "model" for a pan-Arab economic integration.
