The Lebanese army arrested several fighters linked to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Arsal and raided the "industrial complex" of radical cleric Mustafa al-Hujeiri, Lebanese media reported Wednesday (September 13th).
The army detained a Syrian national accused of having links to ISIS in the north-eastern border town of Arsal, the National News Agency reported.
He is wanted on accusations of booby trapping vehicles and arranging suicide attack bombings, NNA said.
The military also raided an industrial complex belonging to al-Hujeiri, also known as "Abu Taqiyeh", in Wadi al-Hosn and confiscated weapons and ammunition.
Two Lebanese and one Syrian also were arrested over links to terror groups.
Last week, the army raided al-Hujeiri’s house in Arsal, but he was not home.
The raid follows confessions made by his detained son, Obada, about his father's alleged involvement in the 2014 kidnap of around 30 Lebanese soldiers and policemen during clashes in Arsal.
The raid comes after a national funeral for 10 soldiers kidnapped in 2014 and eventually executed by ISIS, whose bodies were recovered last month.
