Lebanese forces over the weekend foiled an attempt to smuggle more than four million Captagon pills out of the country, Lebanon’s Naharnet reported Wednesday (August 2nd).
A truck that contained large amounts of Captagon pills concealed inside thermos barrels was seized in the Dahr al-Baydar area, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.
Police also seized massive amounts of raw materials used in the manufacturing of Captagon -- a type of amphetamine which induces a sense of euphoria and keeps the user alert for long stretches -- from a warehouse in Baalbek.
The truck driver confessed he had been tasked with transporting the cargo from Baalbek to Beirut by a Lebanese man, with the cargo to be shipped abroad.
