Mine blast kills Saudi soldier near Yemen border

A Saudi border guard died Sunday (July 23rd) in a mine explosion near the country's border with Yemen, AFP reported.

The guard was on patrol in Asir province when the mine exploded, the Saudi interior ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

Asir province is home to an airbase central to the coalition campaign.

The Houthis (Ansarallah) and their allies control much of northern Yemen and the Red Sea coast.

Cross-border attacks by the Houthis have killed 140 military personnel and civilians inside Saudi Arabia since March 2015.
