Syrian ISIL 'emir' killed in Lebanon's Arsal

"Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) 'emir' Ahmed Wahid al-Abed has been killed in an explosion in the Bekaa Valley town of Arsal, Lebanese media reported Tuesday (February 7th).

Al-Abed, a Syrian from al-Qalamoun, was killed Monday night when an explosive device that had been planted in his car blew up, the National News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army on Tuesday shelled the posts of militants in nearby Ras Baalbek and al-Qaa with heavy artillery, the agency said.
