Two suspected al-Qaeda members were killed in an airstrike in southern Yemen on Monday (January 30th), AFP reported.
The strike hit a vehicle in Bayhan district on the border between Shabwa and Marib provinces, a security official said.
On Sunday, elite US forces launched a dawn raid some 60 kilometres north-west of Bayhan.
At least 14 suspected members of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) were killed in the raid, while one US soldier was killed and four others wounded, the US military said.
The raid was said to have targeted the houses of three tribal chiefs linked to al-Qaeda.
The three prominent tribal figures with known al-Qaeda links killed were identified as brothers Abdulraouf and Sultan al-Zahab and Saif Alawai al-Jawfi.
