UAE kicks off anti-ISIL social media campaign

The Sawab Centre, a joint UAE-US initiative to combat the online propaganda of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) and promote positive alternatives to extremism, on Wednesday (October 26th) announced the launch of its latest social media campaign, Emirati news agency WAM reported.

The three-day campaign, which highlights the essential role of the family in countering the spread of extremism, will be conducted in Arabic and English on Sawab’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram platforms and will employ the hashtag #YourFamilyIsYourLife.

The campaign will highlight examples of how ISIL has torn the fabric of the family, but also will reinforce that the family unit is resilient and can serve as a bulwark against its attempts to infiltrate the home, usually via the Internet.

This is the centre’s 12th social media campaign. Other campaigns have focused on the group’s treatment of women and children, the importance of diversity and the positive impact that youth can have on their societies.
