Two alleged militants were killed and four policemen were seriously injured in a Monday (June 6th) shootout in Damietta, east of Nile Delta, Egypt's Ahram Online reported.
The injured policemen included the deputy head of the Damietta security directorate.
Police were deployed after the directorate received information that the militants were hiding out at a villa in Ras el-Bar, directorate head Faisal Doweidar said.
Heavy gunfire was heard as soon as forces arrived at the scene, he said.
The militants, reportedly part of a terrorist group based in Helwan, south of Cairo, were suspected of killing eight policemen in the city in May.
