The Jordanian-Egyptian joint committee met Saturday (April 6th) to discuss mechanisms to enhance bilateral co-operation in various fields, the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.
The committee's discussions focused on the Suez Canal, Jordanian medicines, ways to facilitate the access of Jordanian products to the Egyptian market, transportation, energy and Egyptian labour in Jordan.
The committee seeks to resolve outstanding issues and obstacles between the two sides in various industrial and commercial sectors.
The meeting was chaired by Jordan's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply secretary general Yousef al-Shamali, and on the Egyptian side, Arab and African co-operation sector supervisor Fathy Abdel Azim.
The total trade exchange between the two countries reached $663 million in 2018, marking an increase of 18%, compared to 2017, al-Shamali said.
Jordanian exports reached $111 million in 2018, he said, while imports amounted to $552 million.
The Egyptian official underlined the importance of such meetings in boosting co-operation between the two countries in various fields.
