Egypt's Minister of Health Hala Zayed said a national health care initiative aims to provide checkups to 1.1 million students in nine governorates during its first phase, Ahram Online reported Monday (December 17th).
Addressing a joint press conference with Minister of Education Tarek Shawqi, Zayed said the initiative aims at early diagnosis of certain diseases.
The initiative is part of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s "100 Million Healthy Lives" campaign.
It is organised in co-operation between the ministries of education, health and population and the General Authority for Health Insurance.
Medication will be prescribed to students who test positive for some diseases, such as Hepatitis C, Zayed said.
The first phase of the campaign will run until February 28th.
