A joint Jordanian-Syrian technical committee has held its first meeting to discuss reopening a major border crossing between the two countries, sources told AFP Thursday (September 13th).
The Nassib border crossing in southern Syria was recaptured from the opposition last July. It is one of the busiest border crossings in Syria and the main crossing for Syrian exports to Jordan and Gulf countries.
"A Jordanian-Syrian technical committee held a meeting yesterday (Wednesday) to discuss the reopening of the border between the two countries," the source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said.
"More meetings will be held in order to draw a full picture of the measures that need to be taken to reopen the border crossings over the next period," the source said.
