Jordan’s Court of Cassation has upheld a March State Security Court ruling sentencing a man to 10 years in prison after he was convicted of plotting embassy attacks in early 2017, the Jordan Times reported Tuesday (July 10th).
The court also declared the defendant guilty of manufacturing explosives and supporting the ideologies of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS).
Court papers said the defendant had convinced another defendant, who did not appeal his verdict, to conduct terror acts targeting embassies in Amman.
The defendant used social media to share ISIS videos "and to encourage people to join the terror group", court documents said, and also purchased "chemical substances from a shop in Amman to manufacture explosives to use in the attacks against the embassies".
The two used a shop in Amman to build the explosive device, but were arrested by security agents before carrying out their reported plans, the court said.
