Two Saudi policemen were injured in a Monday (May 29th) blast as they conducted a security patrol in Eastern Province’s Qatif district, the Saudi Press Agency reported Tuesday.
An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at 7:30 a.m. Monday as the patrol was operating near al-Rif neighbourhood roundabout in Awamiya, the interior ministry said.
Awamiya, a town of 30,000, has been the scene of repeated security incidents.
Two security men were taken to hospital, the ministry said, and the authorities have begun an investigation into the crime.
