A suspected al-Qaeda suicide bombing on Wednesday (May 10th) killed a Yemeni soldier in the south-eastern province of Hadramaut, AFP reported.
Six other people, including three civilians, were wounded when the assailant detonated his explosives at a checkpoint in the village of Duaan, some 300 kilometres north-west of al-Mukalla, a security official said.
The attack comes days after Yemeni forces backed by the coalition mounted an operation against al-Qaeda militants suspected of being behind the recent bombing of two abandoned police stations.
Al-Qaeda has remained active in Hadramaut, taking advantage of more than two years of conflict between the government and the Houthis (Ansarallah).
