45 west Mosul neighbourhoods under Iraqi control: commander

Iraqi forces have now liberated 45 areas and neighbourhoods of west Mosul and continue with their push to liberate the remaining areas, Ninawa Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Abdul Ameer Rashid Yarallah told Diyaruna.

On Monday (March 27th), Iraqi troops finished combing and clearing the areas of Wadi al-Ain and Rajm al-Hadid after fully liberating them the night before, he said.

"Now the total number of liberated areas and neighbourhoods in west Mosul has risen to 45, while the areas controlled by the 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) have diminished to 12 neighbourhoods," he added.

Iraqi forces are advancing towards adjacent neighbourhoods, including al-Nahrawan and al-Senaa, to liberate them, Yarallah said.
