Egypt’s Interior Ministry has begun posting photos of wanted criminals and fugitives in the public transportation system, offering rewards for information about them, Egypt's Ahram Online reported Tuesday (February 21st).
Posters titled "together for a safe country" that include photographs of convicted criminals have been placed inside public buses, in railway stations and other transport systems with a high volume of traffic, the ministry said.
Phone numbers and an e-mail address have been provided so that people can inform the police about any useful information about the individuals.
The ministry rolled out the new system in response to the public's desire to improve national security and ensure the rule of law, it said in a statement.
Previous campaigns have been limited to checkpoints and police departments.
