19 killed in renewed Yemen clashes

Renewed clashes between Yemeni forces and the Houthis (Ansarallah) killed 19 people on Tuesday (November 22nd), AFP reported.

Forces loyal to President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi repelled an attack by the Houthis and their allies on the outskirts of Taez city, military officials said.

The attack began late Monday targeting al-Dhabab area, which provides pro-Hadi forces with their only access to the city, surrounded by the Houthis.

Coalition warplanes took part in defensive operations and repelled the attack, in which 11 Houthis and five government soldiers were killed, officials said.

Meanwhile, three soldiers were killed and four were wounded late Monday by Houthi sniper fire near the north-western coastal town of Midi, an official said.

The Houthis have been trying to advance on Midi's harbour, which is controlled by pro-Hadi forces, the official said.
