Omani officials met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Muscat on Monday (November 14th) to discuss efforts to end neighbouring Yemen's 19-month conflict, AFP reported.
Kerry and Oman's Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi discussed the "peaceful and humanitarian role played by the sultanate in Yemen", ONA state news agency reported.
Kerry, who has been pushing for a settlement of Yemen's conflict, also is expected to meet Oman's ruler, Sultan Qaboos.
Oman is the only Arab nation in the Gulf which is not part of the coalition fighting in Yemen, although it maintains good relations with Saudi Arabia.
After Oman, Kerry is scheduled to travel to Abu Dhabi for talks on regional conflicts, including Syria.
