The coalition battling Yemen's Houthis (Ansarallah) on Tuesday (November 8th) accused the insurgents of having seized a total of 34 aid boats bound for the country over a six-month period, AFP reported.
Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Ahmed Asiri said the Iran-backed Houthis had seized the vessels, and accused them of blocking humanitarian supplies to the Yemeni port of al-Hodeida, which they control.
"Aid to the port of al-Hodeida has been blocked for six months" by the Houthis and allied forces, Asiri said in a statement.
"Today there are no more UN humanitarian personnel in al-Hodeida... who can inspect and supervise the distribution of aid and medical supplies," he said.
He said the Houthis had intercepted 34 boats carrying aid "in the last 186 days".
