Jordan sentences Baqaa attacker to death

A Jordanian court on Thursday (August 4th) sentenced a man to death for killing five intelligence agents in a June attack on their office in the Baqaa refugee camp north of Amman, AFP reported.

Amman's state security court "sentenced the criminal Mahmud Masharfeh to death by hanging for his terrorist act against the intelligence agency", the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.

Masharfeh, a Jordanian national, was arrested hours after the June 6th attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the Baqaa shooting, which authorities said was "an individual and isolated act".
