Lebanon's Interior Minister on Tuesday (June 21st) said the national security situation is under control, noting that Lebanon was able to conduct pre-emptive operations and uncover terror networks before they were able to carry out their schemes, Lebanese media reported.
Interior Minister Nohad al-Mashnouq pointed to several deterrent operations where a number of suspects were arrested in connection with planned terror attacks in Lebanon, As-Sharq daily reported.
Al-Mashnouq said the Lebanese security apparatus had been able to uncover and thwart schemes by the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) to carry out terror acts, mainly in crowded areas in Beirut.
Security forces are waging the "fiercest battle" against attempts to shake the security situation, he said.
