In a gesture of goodwill between Yemen's warring parties, the Houthis on Sunday (June 19th) announced the release of 276 prisoners loyal to the government of President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who had been held captive for months, AFP reported.
In Rada, a town in the central province of al-Bayda, 200 detainees were set free, and another 76 were let go in nearby Dhamar province, according to the Saba news agency.
The move was a sign of "good will" on the occasion of Ramadan, the agency said.
The releases come a day after the exchange of 194 prisoners in Taez, in south-western Yemen, following tribal mediation unconnected to UN-brokered peace talks in Kuwait.
The Kuwait talks, now in their ninth week, have made no major breakthroughs.
