The second edition of the Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BIDEC 2019) kicked off Monday (October 28th) in Manama to showcase the latest military technology in the world.

The three-day event, held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, is expected to bring together participants from 60 countries with full support from the Bahrain Defence Force and other public institutions.

More than 200 exhibiting companies will showcase their latest technology, equipment and hardware across land, sea and air, with more than 60 delegations comprising senior international personalities in attendance.

The exhibition will feature many activities including a warships exhibition, a live ammunition and sniper shooting drill.

As part of the event, the Middle East Military Technology Conference (MEMTEC) is also taking place on October 29th and 30th.

MEMTEC will discuss issues including the current status and future of military technology, cyber defence strategies and the impact of artificial intelligence on the functions of armed forces.

It also will discuss the use of military technology to develop simulation models of war, the impact of military technology on regional conflicts and the future of military industries in Middle East countries.

MEMTEC will showcase how global developments and advances in the defence sector will reshape conflicts in the Middle East.

"Historically, the kingdom was a safe port for the neighbouring nations, and it is now an international hub for sharing ideas and entrepreneurship," Brig. Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Bahrain Royal Guard and BIDEC Chairman, said.

"BIDEC and MEMTEC serve this purpose by investing in knowledge and technology," he said.
