Jordan army chief, counter-terror coalition chief discuss co-operation

Jordanian Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and Commander in Chief of the Saudi-led Islamic Military Counter-terrorism Coalition Raheel Sharif on Thursday (October 25th) discussed means to enhance joint action in the war against terrorism.

Freihat and Sharif discussed prospects of enhancing joint co-operation and action, as well as uniting anti-terrorism efforts, stressing the importance of group work in countering terrorism on various fronts, and in uprooting its risk at the security, cultural and ideological levels.

A number of senior army officers and the military attaché at the Saudi embassy in Amman attended the meeting, the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.

Saudi Arabia announced the formation of the Islamic Military Counter-terrorism Coalition in December 2015, to act as a unified pan-Islamic front against terrorism.
