Jordan army chief says military should remain on alert

Chairman of Jordan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat on Tuesday (June 5th) met with top brass in the Jordanian forces at the Royal Military College, the Jordan Times reported.

Freihat conveyed King Abdullah's pride in units and personnel who "safeguard the homeland and ensure peace and security for the country", the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.

He also stressed the need for Jordanian forces to stay on full alert, noting that regional circumstances and challenges, along with internal conditions, require more caution and vigilance, expecting all possibilities.

"We have to be aware that our country is targeted, which requires all to stand in the face of those who want to tamper with Jordan's security and stability," Freihat said.

He noted that the kingdom's relations with other countries provide the armed forces with an opportunity to build partnerships with various armies of the world, which have positively reflected on the army in terms of training, armament and reputation.
