Lebanese judge sets date for Tripoli mosque bombing trial

A Lebanese judge has set May 12th as the date that trials will begin for the deadly 2013 bombings of two mosques in the northern city of Tripoli, Lebanese media reported Monday (March 27th).

On August 23rd, 2013, two car bombs exploded outside al-Taqwa and al-Salam mosques in Tripoli, leaving 45 people dead and more than 800 injured.

Judge Jean Fahd, who heads the Higher Judicial Council, announced that two Syrian nationals indicted last year will be tried for their role in the bombings.

The two men have been named as Mohammed Ali Ali and Nasser Jouban.
