Al-Sisi extends Egypt's state of emergency for 3 months

A three-month extension of Egypt’s nationwide state of emergency went into effect on Monday (October 15th), Egypt’s Ahram Online reported.

President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi issued a decree ordering the new extension, which has been renewed in increments since it was first imposed in April 2017, after two church bombings which killed 47 people, claimed by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS).

The latest extension allows security forces to "take necessary [measures] to confront the dangers and funding of terrorism and to safeguard security in all parts of the country", according to the decree, published in the official gazette.
