More than 23 Houthis killed as Yemeni army advances

More than 23 members of the Iran-backed Houthi (Ansarallah) militia were killed and others were detained in battles in as-Sawadiyah district in al-Bayda province, al-Arabiya reported Tuesday (August 21st).

The Yemeni army said on its website it has launched an attack on the Houthis’ posts in Khadar, al-Shabka and al-Yasbel and managed to seize control over some posts.

It added that the Houthis left the bodies of dozens of their fighters in the area.

The army also damaged several of the Houthis’ military vehicles and seized different types of weapons and ammunition.

"The battles are ongoing and the Houthis’ losses will continue to increase," it said.

This comes after the army advanced in al-Malajim, east of al-Bayda.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army in the Taiz front and with air cover from the Arab coalition, has managed to strategically advance southeast of the city. It has liberated Ozlat Hawamra following a quick operation during which it also seized heavy weapons and gear.
