A top "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader was killed and three others arrested in a Saturday (April 28th) government raid in southern Yemen, AFP reported.
Saleh Nasr Fadl al-Bakhshi, self-proclaimed "emir" of the group's branch in the Aden and Abyan regions, was killed in the raid on an ISIS hideout in government-held territory, a senior officer with Aden's police force said.
Extremist networks, including ISIS and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), have exploited years of war in Yemen to expand their presence in the country's south.
