3 soldiers, 30 extremists killed in Egypt’s Sinai

Three Egyptian soldiers and 30 extremists have been killed in the past week in Sinai, where Egyptian forces are battling the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), AFP reported Wednesday (April 25th).

Around 200 extremists and at least 33 Egyptian soldiers have been killed since the "Sinai 2018" offensive began on February 9th, according to official figures.

They include Nasser Abu Zaqoul, the group’s "central Sinai commander", according to the army, which announced his death last week.

More than 170 suspected extremists have been arrested.
