Jordan can play pivotal role in Iraq rebuilding: minister

Jordan is willing to use its capabilities to support the reconstruction efforts in Iraq, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said on Wednesday (February 14th).

In his remarks at the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq, Momani stressed the bilateral relations between Iraq and Jordan, The Jordan Times reported.

He said the geographical proximity and deep economic and social ties between the two countries are crucial factors that nominate Jordan for a stronger role in rebuilding Iraq.

Jordan supports the Iraqi people in their efforts to "fight terrorism, rebuild their country and achieve stability through intensive bilateral co-operation in the military, security and economic areas", he said.

He said Jordan is ready to facilitate reconstruction efforts through the al-Karama/Trebil border crossing, which is close to Iraqi regions targeted by reconstruction plans.
