International Quartet Committee on Yemen denounces Houthis’ actions

The International Quartet Committee on Yemen on Tuesday (December 12th) issued a statement condemning the Iran-backed Houthis’ actions in Yemen, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The committee includes the foreign ministers of the UK, Saudi Arabia and the UAE and senior US government officials.

In a statement issued by the UK, the committee expressed outrage at reports of indiscriminate killings and intimidation by the Houthis in Sanaa, including against members of the General People's Congress (GPC) and their families.

Following their meeting in Abu Dhabi on December 10th, the committee called upon the Houthis to cease actions to suppress or eliminate other political parties in Sanaa.

They also discussed ways to provide greater assistance to the Yemeni people, and to facilitate the entry of humanitarian and commercial goods.

They also agreed to enhance their efforts to prevent weapons smuggling into Yemen, and urged all Yemeni parties to unify their efforts in search of responsible solutions for a stable and united Yemen.
