The relation of Affash Sanhan to the armed groups in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia is known to many. The gang and the ousted Abdullah Saleh Affash Sanhan had formed a big gang consisting of the sons of Affash Sanhan, his nephews, thieves, and highwaymen from northern Yemen and the Arab south who joined al-Qaeda in August 1993 under the leadership of Affash Sanhan.
